International distinction of Oceanos NTUA Racing Boat Team in MEBC 2023

The student engineering team Oceanos from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, representing the National Technical University of Athens and their country, Greece, in the international competition Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2023, secured the 2^nd place in the General Rankings, and the 1^st place in the Slalom and Championship races.

To successfully compete the team designed an electric racing boat, developing in-house the energy storage (lithium battery pack), the power transmission systems (electric motor coupled with an outboard pod) as well as the propulsive equipment (design and printing of 3D propellers).

The outstanding results are the product of hard work throughout the academic year of 2022-23. Α decisive factor for our performance, was the support our team had from our institution, the laboratories and professors, as well as the sponsors that provided material and economic support for the project.

The team’s overall results are the following:

6/7 Qualifying Laps – 1^st place.
7/7 Endurance target="_blank" Race – 4^th place.
8/7 Slalom Race – 1^st place.
8/7 Championship Race – 1^st place.
